What Is Integrative Psychiatry?
Integrative psychiatry is a holistic approach that uses both traditional allopathic and complementary therapies in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Personalized treatments are developed to suit each person’s lifestyle and strengthen self-awareness and resources for self-care. These treatments may include:
- Functional and nutritional assessments of individual health differences and needs, which can be addressed in a natural manner through eating patterns, exercise, and/or supplements
- Mind-body centering exercises that increase the relaxation response
- Guided imagery to engage the mind in the healing process
- Gentle bodywork to promote relaxation
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
What Are the Indications for Integrative Psychiatry?
Dr. Mondala embraces benefits of integrative psychiatry for the following disorders:
- People who want to take responsibility for their well-being by addressing the effects on health of lifestyle, emotions, and social interactions
- Individuals who have not tolerated or responded optimally to traditional psychiatric treatments

Integrative Psychiatry
Meet with Dr. Mondala, Integrative psychiatrist, to explore your health, wellness, and life goals. Dr. Mondala will address your psychiatric disorders through a holistic approach to health. Before the first appointment, you’ll complete an extensive online intake questionnaires that includes a health assessment, rating scales, and other lifestyle factors. We encourage you to upload any previous lab tests and medical records into the confidential patient portal.
In the first session, we’ll discuss your medical history and treatment goals, and formulate a treatment plan that may include laboratory testing, nutrition, exercise, mind-body practices, medications, vitamins and supplements, restorative sleep, herbs, and other modalities.
During follow-up visits, we’ll take a deeper dive into treatment recommendations, make adjustments to the plan, and track your progress.
Functional Nutrition
During these consultations, you’ll meet with Dr. Mondala, functional nutrition expert, to evaluate your nutritional needs, assess food sensitivities, and explore gut health issues like IBS, SIBO, dysbiosis, acid reflux, and indigestion.
Dr. Mondala will review any prior nutritional, functional medicine, or gut testing, and formulate a personalized treatment plan that may include additional laboratory testing, dietary modifications, and supplements.
Dr. Mondala focuses on the most essential whole foods and supplements that are therapeutic and provides positive outcomes.

Medication Management
If you’re already taking psychiatric medications, Dr. Mondala will help you find the most appropriate dosing and regimen. If you aren’t sure if medications are right for you, we’ll help you explore the options and figure out the best plan for your needs. She also specializes in helping people taper off medications safely, when appropriate.
We also offer precision pharmacogenomic testing to help you find the safest and most effective treatment for your situation. Many medications require optimal gut health and nutrition to work properly, so nutritional consultations are also available as a complement to medication management.
Psychotherapy
Dr. Mondala is trained in various psychotherapy modalities including supportive, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based psychotherapy. She is also certified to provide a coaching-based approach to help you build healthy habits, improve communication skills, set healthy boundaries, and improve your relationships and performance at school, work, or at home.
